전시개요

<유리 까는 사람들>은 김성연, 김연진, 박정은, 이정윤 네 명의 작가로 구성된 그룹 전시이다. 김승일의 시 <유리해변>에는 깨진 유리 조각이 깔린 모래사장이 등장한다. 시 속의 유리 까는 사람은 어째서 이 해변이 이토록 아름다운지 이해해보고자, 해변을 바라보는 것을 넘어 스스로 날카로운 유리를 모래 속에 섞고, 맨발로 그 위를 거니는 고통스러운 행동을 반복한다.

<Glass Pavers (유리 까는 사람들)> 전시에 참여하는 4명의 작가는 자신들을 유리 까는 사람에 비유한다. 아름다운 해변에서 고통을 견디며 스스로 해변의 일부가 된 화자처럼 이들은 각자 자신만의 유리를 깔며 각자가 마주한 단절에 반응한다. 전시장에 흩뿌린 유리 조각들은 각자의 형태로 모래 속에서 반짝이며 스스로를 세상에 내보인다.

<Glass Pavers> is a group exhibition by four artists, Kim Sungyeon, Kim Yeonjin, Park Jeongyeon, and Lee Jungyoon. Seung-il Kim's poem "Glass Beach" features a sandy beach littered with broken glass. In order to understand why the beach is so beautiful, the glass paver in the poem goes beyond looking at the beach and repeats the painful act of mixing the sharp glass into the sand and walking on it with his bare feet.

The four artists in the exhibition <Glass Pavers> describe themselves as glass pavers. Like the narrator who endures pain on a beautiful beach and becomes a part of it, they each respond to the disconnection they encounter by spreading their own glass. Scattered throughout the exhibition, the shards of glass sparkle in the sand in their own form, presenting themselves to the world.
